Meet the Interns

Heteroflexible Therapy, Ltd is please to introduce two interns in Marriage and Family Therapy to its practice. We are dedicated to helping train skilled therapists in the practice of psychotherapy. The interns will be working in the practice starting in January 2011. As part of their training they will be observing sessions with Connie Studer, MA, LMFT and will also have the opportunity to see clients on their own under supervision through the use of videotaped session.

Why see an intern?

Many individuals, couples, and families find that they do not have the funds to pay for therapy with a seasoned professional.  We offer substantially reduced fees for the service based on need and financial resources. By working with an intern you will be able to receive excellent therapy by an enthusiastic, educated psychotherapist with an added benefit of the insight of a licensed therapist trained in supervision. As always a 30 minute consultation at no cost is offered to find out if the therapist is a good fit for you.

Jamy Zubich

I am an intern working toward my masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Child Psychology and worked for many years with a diverse population of children and their families. Prior to graduate school and continuing today, I own and run a successful small business in the twin cities.

I am open and affirming of all families and cultural backgrounds and am particularly passionate about working with LGBT couples and families and proud to be part of the community.

I am compassionate, genuine, and forward thinking. I value humor and love to laugh. I am passionate about helping people learn to live authentically, accept change, and seek inner peace. My favorite saying is, “We cannot stop the waves, but we can learn to surf.” Often we have little control of what happens in our lives. We do however have control of how we think about things and how we respond. I believe that gaining insight and practicing new ways of ‘being’ is key in the process of healing. I firmly believe that all people have the internal strength and the ability to be their personal best, and my job is to help people connect with that strength. My intentions are to help you learn how to create balance in your life and in your relationships and encourage self reflection through a holistic approach to wellness.

I am strongly committed to normalizing the process of therapy and know that someday it will be accepted in our society as any other way of caring for our bodies, minds, and souls. **Quote by Joseph Goldstein
